Brilliant Singer ODs

When 'exhaustion' strikes, it pays no heed to things like talent or level of fame. According to multiple sources, exhaustion is the most cited reason for hospitalizations and rehab admissions and, today, it has just made another victim: Amy Winehouse, the beehived, tattooed and skinny British sensation that broke all records with her hit 'Rehab'.

We know her for her propensity for swearing and wearing the same pair of jeans and ballerina shoes for months in a row. We also know her for her throaty and deep voice, the kind the world hasn't seen since the bygone days when jazz was still the best music in the industry. For the way she has of captivating us with her own music (which is not, like in the case of other stars, written down for her to the last note), of dragging us into a world of blues and gloom, where booze is the only remedy for a broken heart. Unfortunately, Amy took her lyrics a step too far...

News broke out today that she was rushed to the University College Hospital in London and that all her future shows in Europe have been canceled. Minutes after word got to the fans, her record label was quick to issue a statement which obviously tried to make the best of a desperate situation. Scheduled performances in Norway and Denmark this week have been canceled.', the press release said. However, 'The Sun' has another story regarding Amy's collapse and, as expected, it involves drugs, alcohol and lack of responsibility. According to the tabloid, the singer was seen last in the company of her husband and a female friend, partying in a London pub. Next thing you know, they were with her at the hospital, talking to a nurse. Amy couldn't stand and was supported on her feet by her husband and friend.

The report did not come as a surprise, seeing that over the past year Amy was plagued with controversy surrounding her concerning weight loss, rumors about drug and alcohol abuse and her own admission of self-harm. But her friends are still hoping that this trip to the hospital would eventually prove to be the very much needed wake-up call for the singer. 'We've been terrified something like this would happen for months. Amy has lost the plot and her partying is out of control. We are praying that this is the wake-up call she needs.', one of them tells the British media.

Although Amy's collapse was most likely due to a drug overdose, her publicist insists that she is well at home and recuperating. Story developing...
