We know her for her propensity for swearing and wearing the same pair of jeans and ballerina shoes for months in a row. We also know her for her throaty and deep voice, the kind the world hasn't seen since the bygone days when jazz was still the best music in the industry. For the way she has of captivating us with her own music (which is not, like in the case of other stars, written down for her to the last note), of dragging us into a world of blues and gloom, where booze is the only remedy for a broken heart. Unfortunately, Amy took her lyrics a step too far...
News broke out today that she was rushed to the University College Hospital in London and that all her future shows in Europe have been canceled. Minutes after word got to the fans, her record label was quick to issue a statement which obviously tried to make the best of a desperate situation. Contrary to what we've witnessed the past few weeks (drunken appearances, canceled shows and Amy on a downwards spiral), the statement from label played it safe: it was only exhaustion that got the best of Amy.

The report did not come as a surprise, seeing that over the past year Amy was plagued with controversy surrounding her concerning weight loss, rumors about drug and alcohol abuse and her own admission of self-harm. But her friends are still hoping that this trip to the hospital would eventually prove to be the very much needed wake-up call for the singer. 'We've been terrified something like this would happen for months. Amy has lost the plot and her partying is out of control. We are praying that this is the wake-up call she needs.', one of them tells the British media.
Although Amy's collapse was most likely due to a drug overdose, her publicist insists that she is well at home and recuperating. Story developing...
